Close confirmation: pattern completes only when the final candle of the formation closes. Intraperiod wicks do not count for pattern completion on your trading timeframe.
Break confirmation: enter when price trades beyond a key part of the pattern (engulfing high, inside bar mother high, star third close). Retest entries after break often improve R.
Structure confirmation: reversal patterns plus break of last minor HL/LH on your timeframe upgrade reliability. Continuation patterns plus hold of prior swing upgrade reliability.
Time confirmation: daily pattern close matters more than 5-minute pattern during lunch lull. Match pattern timeframe to when you will hold the trade.
Multiple pattern agreement: hammer plus bullish engulfing next day, or tweezer bottom plus morning star completion — confluence stacks edge.
