Session Timing and Market Context

Markets have rhythms. Equity cash sessions open and close with distinct volume bursts. Forex moves differently during Asia, London, and New York. Crypto trades 24/7 but still shows periodic liquidity patterns. Manual traders align activity with when their market actually moves.

Opening ranges — the first 15–60 minutes of a session — often establish the day's initial balance. Breakouts or failures from that range set intraday tone. Mark the opening range high and low before deciding on mid-day trades.

Economic calendars matter. High-impact releases (employment, inflation, central bank decisions) create spikes that invalidate technical setups temporarily. Many manual traders step aside 30 minutes before and after major news on affected instruments.

Day of week effects are real but subtle. Monday can be slow as participants reposition; Friday afternoons may see profit-taking and thinner follow-through. Adapt expectations, not superstition — still trade the chart, but know typical liquidity.

Context includes broader market correlation. A stock may reject perfectly at support but fail if the index dumps. Check one correlated benchmark (sector ETF, index futures, BTC for alts) before sizing up.
