Timeframe Correlation

Each timeframe is a zoom level on the same auction. A 5-minute downtrend can be a single pullback candle on the 1-hour chart. Neither is wrong — they describe different periods. Problems arise when traders mix biases without hierarchy.

Hierarchy rule: the higher timeframe dominates direction for swing and position context; the trading timeframe dominates for stop and target placement. A lower timeframe counter-trend move is acceptable for entry precision if HTF bias is clear and risk is small.

Correlation also appears in levels: a 4-hour support zone may contain several 15-minute swings. When levels from multiple timeframes cluster, reactions are often stronger. Mark these stacks on your chart.

Divergence between timeframes signals caution. If 1-hour makes HH/HL but 15-minute breaks its HL, short-term weakness may deepen into HTF pullback — or it may be a shakeout. Use HTF structure to judge whether the LTF break matters.

Avoid analysis paralysis. You need two, maybe three timeframes — not six. Pick a stack, learn it deeply, and ignore the rest until proficiency is automatic.
