Trend Exhaustion and Transitions

Trend exhaustion appears when impulse legs shorten, pullbacks deepen, and opposing candles grow larger. You may see repeated failures to make new highs in an uptrend — price pushes up but cannot sustain, creating LH on minor swings while major HL still holds.

Climactic moves can end trends abruptly: several large candles in one direction followed by a sharp reversal candle that erases much of the move. Manual traders treat climaxes as warnings, not invitations to chase.

Structure transition often begins with a break of the last protected swing: the HL in an uptrend or LH in a downtrend. That break is change of character on your timeframe — bias shifts from trend-following to caution or counter-trend.

Ranges frequently emerge between trends. Price may chop for days after exhaustion before the next directional leg. Forcing trades during transition bleeds accounts. Reduce frequency until a clear HH/HL or LH/LL sequence re-establishes.

Volume and session context help confirm exhaustion (covered elsewhere), but price alone often tells the story: failed breakouts, long wicks at extremes, and overlapping candles are enough to tighten risk.
