Liquidity sweep: wick through prior high/low, triggers stops, closes back inside range — no acceptance beyond level. BOS: close beyond level, often retest holds beyond side, follow-through continues.
Sweeps are common at equal highs/lows; BOS more common mid-trend breaking obvious swing. Location tells story: sweep at range edge, BOS in trend channel.
Manual traders wait for second candle after wick: reclaim inside = sweep (fade setup possible); hold beyond = BOS developing.
Sweeps can precede real BOS — first run stops, second push breaks with conviction. Do not fade every sweep in strong HTF trend.
Volume (when available): sweeps sometimes show spike then reversal; BOS may show sustained participation — secondary confirmation.
