Labeling HH, HL, LH, LL

Higher High (HH): new swing high exceeds prior swing high. Higher Low (HL): new swing low exceeds prior swing low. Together in sequence → uptrend structure. Lower High (LH) and Lower Low (LL) → downtrend.

Label only after swing confirms. Premature HH label before close invites repaint bias intraday.

Internal vs external swings: external swings define major structure; internal swings are pullbacks inside the leg. Trade decisions usually reference external structure; entries refine on internal.

When HH is marginal (tiny break), note 'weak HH' — may signal compression or exhaustion rather than strength.

Structure labels are descriptive, not predictive. They tell you what happened; your job is deciding if continuation or reversal is more likely at this location.
